Last Saturday the Jindabyne Miss Piggies Rugby team played Queanbeyan at home in Jindabyne in a game that was to decide the last position in the semi finals for this season. Unfortunately despite a great effort the Jindabyne girls lost 27-5.
The game started at a hectic pace with Jindabyne girls controlling the ball and pressuring the Queanbeyan girls into mistakes, the forwards competed hard at the breakdown and the backs were in the Queanbeyan girl's faces when they were attacking.
Queanbeyan continually attacked the Jindabyne line and only some last ditch defence managed to keep them from scoring, but a couple of lapses in defence allowed Queanbeyan to score 2 quick tries to see the girls go in at half time 12 to nil down.
Jindabyne lost flying winger Fiona Tilley just before half-time with a neck injury, but after been taken to the Jindabyne Medical centre by ambulance she was cleared of any serious injury and allowed to leave.
The Jindabyne girls came out in the second half very determined to get back in the game but their bigger Queanbeyan opponents had other ideas and another 2 quick tries saw the Queanbeyan girls skip away to a handy lead.
Some great defence at the back by Becky Bosden saved another 2 tries from being scored. Jess Jackson scored a late try for the Miss Piggies out wide to see the final score 27 to nil.
The Last & Maxwell Players player for this week was Becky Bosden but as Becky couldn't accept the mug she was deputised for by Kristy Blyton who was runner up in the voting.
Next week is the girl's last game for the season against Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra.
The girls will be very keen to come away from Canberra with a win.
