It's looking good for a great slopestyle event as part of Thredbo's Freeride Series.
Stuntman, Rip Curl freerider and brother to Manuela, Andrea Berchtold, is on the case helping with course design and there's no doubt that recent good snowfalls will help make the two day event on August 19 and 20, a great one.
"We're trying to incorporate the natural features on The Bluff, below Crackenback," Andrea explained. "It gets quite steep and you get a lot of wind drifts there."
It's the type of event that if conditions are right, will easily turn into a great one and if it's icy it just won't be as good as it could be, Andrea said.
Andrea returned to Jindabyne to work on the course design just a couple of weeks ago. Fresh from working as a stuntman on the latest X Men Origins/Wolverine film, he was still nursing a few bruises from fight sequences.
The latest X Men, due out in July next year, is being filmed in New Zealand and Sydney and Andrea has been involved in a lot of rigging and setting up of stunts as well as being in the middle of them, working alongside the stars, Hugh Jackman and Liev Schever.
"It's the biggest production that I've ever worked on; I was taking hits and doing wire work," he said.
"I enjoy it; stunt work is the side of film work I want to be in. Everyone has an input when a sequence is being developed."
It's not just films though that Andrea appears in; he has been a stuntman in Home and Away, All Saints as well as numerous commercials.
