Snow boarders were out enjoying the slopes after the third snowfall this year produced 20cms of snow at Thredbo and Perisher with more in drift areas.
Long-term weather forecaster, John Moore who has been used by Perisher Blue for a number of years predicted the early snowfalls in April and also the dump that occurred early this week.
Mr Moore has also forecast an 80 per cent chance of a heavy dump May 20-22, which is around the time that Perisher Blue expects to turn on its snow making equipment.
Perisher Blue marketing manager, Gary Grant, said that given the overall situation it was looking good.
He said that given the summer that we've had, with temperatures cooler and moisture in the ground, it could all make for a strong start to the season.
Longer term Mr Moore is predicting average snowfalls during June and July and then above average falls in August with average snowfalls predicted for September and October.
